Experimental results in 400 people who received an HIV vaccine gave good, although not definitive, results, the reaction to the drug tested generated immune action in the human immune system.

"The development of this potential vaccine is sufficiently advanced to be applied to 2,600 women in southern Africa, since two-thirds of the rhesus macaques that have been treated have been protected in laboratory tests," said the director. of the Virology and Vaccine Research Center at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dan Barouch, in the medical journal The Lancet

The new vaccine has been tested in rhesus monkeys and in humans. "This study is now testing whether this vaccine protects humans against HIV infection," says Barouch, however, there is still no guarantee that future tests will be positive.

The results of the second phase of this study will be known in 2021, while the World Health Organization estimates that 1 million people die of AIDS each year and there are about 80 million people who are infected in the world.
