According to the National Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), there was also an increase of 20.7% in June over the previous month and production added 256,305 units, including cars, trucks and bus, the best result for this month since 2013.

Data reflects the recovery of the industry after the truckers strike that rocked Brazil last May, when car production dropped by 15 , 3%, mainly because of the 11-day stop.

The sector also experienced an increase in the annual comparison, as over the last twelve months, from June 2017 to June of this year, the volume produced expanded by 21.1%.

However, Anfavea's president, Antonio Megale, said that June sales were affected by the truck strike and the 2018 World Cup celebration, though the number of registrations remained stable over the month, with n 201,900 units sold, and rose 14.4% in the first half of the year

"We were expecting a little more this month, but the Last month's strike made recording a bit more difficult. The World Cup also influences, "Megale said.

Exports also remained virtually stable in the first half of 2018, with a slight increase of 0.5% over the same period last year.

Exports rose 6.8% from the previous month and 379,000 units have already been sent to the foreign market so far this year.

"We see some problems with our main partners: Mexico is unstable, has just had elections and Argentina too, and these countries are reconsidering their orders," he said.

He adds that Anfavea is now working on a projection of "stability" in the export sector instead of a growth of 4.5%, as he had previously forecast.
