The prosecutor-general in exile, Luisa Ortega Díaz, on Tuesday rejected the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to entrust the candidate, Jessica Bello Barreto, the presidency of the Federation of Students of the University of Carabobo.

The prosecutor said that the measure ratifies the thesis that the government keeps Venezuela's institutions hostage.

"This action against the University of Carabobo confirms that tyranny keeps the institutions hostage to impose their misdeeds and continue to strike the Venezuelans," Ortega published on Twitter.

The prosecutor also urged the students to organize themselves in ways that do not accept what they described as a criminal decision violating their rights.

"Students have to organize to not accept this criminal decision that violates their rights," he added.
