There are nearly 3,000 different emojis.

Emoji have become a new and universal language for expressing all kinds of emotions without the use of words.

You can send a heart, a thumb in the air or a sad face … and your receiver will interpret right now

But not all emojis have such an obvious meaning or are very often used.

There are about 3,000 different drawings – 2.8 23 to be exact, according to Unicode, that does not seem so big in a world with more than 2 billion cell phones.

Tracking emojis

The creator of Emoji Tracker, a website that analyzes what is published daily on Twitter and gets emoji accounts, is Matthew Rothenberg.

The system has recorded 23,000 million tweets since that was created in July 2013.
