Verizon launches new Fios TV app for Apple TV this week

[ad_1]

Verizon today announced the extension of its Fios TV app to Apple TV, as well as Amazon Fire TV. Previously, Fios TV apps were only available on phones and tablets, which marks a notable extension to set-top boxes and helps Apple TV users avoid paying Verizon separately for a dedicated Fios set-top box.

Verizon will still require Fios customers to have a Fios TV One box in their home, but this is included with all Fios TV plans at no additional cost. From there, users can install the Fios TV app on their Apple TV to access other TVs throughout the home, rather than having to pay for multiple Verizon Fios TV One boxes.

Verizon explains:

Now you can also mix and match the way you watch your favorite shows. The Fios TV Home app will be available on Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, and Amazon Fire TV starting July 22, 2021, creating new ways to watch live TV with Verizon Fios.

With the voice-activated Fios TV One, now included in the new Fios TV plans, customers get the first Fios TV box included at no extra cost and can now watch live TV on compatible devices from anywhere in their home. Parents can watch live sporting events on the Fios box in the living room while kids watch cartoons and teens watch comedies on smart TVs in their bedrooms. With Fios TV One allowing more flexibility, Fios TV users can more easily place TVs in the kitchen, on the back patio or in other areas of the house.

One limitation here is that you’ll be limited to two simultaneous streams per Fios TV boxes, says Verizon.

The new Verizon Fios TV app will be available for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD starting tomorrow, July 22. You can read more about Verizon’s new Mix and Match plans on its website. Plans start at $ 56 per month, which includes a basic plan and the ability to choose your five favorite channels.
