RALEIGH, NC – An autopsy revealed that a student credited with being attacked to an armed man during a deadly attack on the North Carolina campus had been shot and wounded eight times. that another student had been killed six times.

The autopsy released Tuesday by the chief forensic pathologist's office indicates that Riley Howell had received four injuries to his head or neck, two to the chest and one on each arm during the April shootout at UNC -Charlotte. The other murdered student, Ellis Reed Parlier, was shot and wounded six times.

Police said Howell, 21, had saved lives by charging the gunman and bringing him to the ground. Trystan Andrew Terrell is charged with murder in the deaths of Howell and Parlier. Four other students survived their injuries.

The reason for the shooting was not specified.
