Victoria’s Secret stores are getting a complete makeover, which will be their first in over 20 years. As part of the update, the company is removing its branded framed images of its former models, the Victoria’s Secret Angels, in lingerie. Raul Martinez, the company’s new creative director, said The New York Post that these photos are deleted for a “more inviting to enter for women” look. According to Martinez, about half of the retailer’s 1,400 global stores have already started trading those photos for photos of women of all shapes and sizes, as well as full-bodied models.

According to The New York Post, the makeover goes further than the models on display in the store. The Victoria’s Secret places will no longer have a boudoir decor, like the signature bubblegum pink velvet furniture. Instead, these items are traded for display tables and toned down white and black dressers. The outlet reports that the retailer’s recently renovated store at Polaris Fashion Place Mall near its Columbus, Ohio headquarters even replaced the black lacquered walls with a softer pink hue and increased the light level. with store lights.

Store makeovers are only part of the larger rebranding of the business. Then, in June 2021, it was announced that the Angels were retired and replaced by The VS Collective, which is described as “an ever-growing group of accomplished women who share a common passion for driving positive change.” New Models Include Professional Soccer Player and LGBTQIA + Activist Megan Rapinoe, actor and producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and plus-model and defender of the body Paloma elesser.

“We go from what men want to what women want; we go from a look to a feeling, to exclude most women to include all women, from mostly inaccessible to grounded in real life, ”said CEO Martin Eaux said in a recent call for results, by The New York Post.

Victoria’s Secret didn’t push all of its models out the door during its rebranding. “The word ‘Angel’ is retired, but that doesn’t mean the women we’ve worked with as Angels are retired,” Martinez said. The New York Post. “We had conversations with the old Angels. It was an honest conversation.”

Martinez refused to develop the conversation. However, at least three of the former Angels continue to represent the brand: Taylor hill, Grace Elisabeth, and Helena christensen.
