There was a time when Sega made a big effort to preserve its legacy titles, which allowed new fans to experience games even though they were older. Fast forward to the present day and the company only seems interested in re-releasing Sonic 1 and 2 on every platform imaginable (not the cool big screen port though).
We’ve gone through multiple generations of consoles without proper curation for this franchise and some titles like Neo Geo Pocket Color’s Sonic Pocket Adventure never received a reissue of any kind. That’s what we want to watch today – Sonic titles that are at least 15 years old and locked to their original material.
We’re not just highlighting just any old game, these must be rightfully fantastic, a key part of the franchise’s history, or have the potential to be enhanced with modern hardware. (Sorry Sonic’s Schoolhouse, maybe next time)
Have you played any of the games featured in this video and are there others that you would like to see re-released?
