On Thursday, President Trump will focus on power traps Thursday, a day after a mob of his supporters raped the U.S. Capitol and the 2020 presidential election was certified for Joe Biden.
It is expected to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to golfers Annika Sorenstam and Gary Player, as well as Olympic athlete Babe Zaharias, a White House official told CNN.
With 13 days into his tenure, the White House was inundated with requests for the Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian honor. Thursday’s presentation was not on the public agenda for Trump, who instead said Trump would have “many meetings” and “many calls.”
Earlier this week, Trump awarded the Medal of Freedom to Representative Devin Nunes and is expected to honor Representative Jim Jordan. Trump is also considering awarding the Medal of Freedom to Bobby Bowden, a retired Florida State University football coach.
