Video: Dana White gives Deiveson Figueiredo bonus after UFC 255 snob

Saturday was a triumphant night for Deiveson Figueiredo, but something was definitely missing.

The Brazilian star’s first UFC flyweight title defense couldn’t have been better. In his first pay-per-view headliner, Figueiredo needed less than two minutes to secure an end-of-fight guillotine choke against challenger Alex Perez. Normally, a quick finish in a high-profile fight like this would result in a $ 50,000 “Night Performance” bonus for the winner, but Figueiredo was dropped in favor of Joaquin Buckley and Antonina Shevchenko.

However, it looks like UFC president Dana White has done well with his flyweight champion. In an Instagram story posted by Figueiredo director Wallid Ismail, White is shown handing Figueiredo a bag of money during a meeting with him and Ismail, and admitting he made a mistake by not giving not at Figueiredo a bonus at the start.

An excerpt from the meeting was re-uploaded to Twitter and can be viewed below:

“I fucked up,” White says in the video. “I made a mistake.”

Figueiredo is one of the most powerful finishers at 125 pounds, and he’s no stranger to bonuses, having won a “Night Performance” for his championship win from Joseph Benavidez in July and a fight of the night for his three rounds battle with Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 240.

‘Deus Da Guerra’ is already ready for his next title fight as he performs the fastest turnaround ever for a UFC champion when he meets Brandon Moreno at UFC 256 on December 12, 21 just days after his victory over Perez.
