Keeping track of all the latest upcoming video games is an increasingly complex task, with multiple storefronts from PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, mobile, and more, but don’t worry, I’m here to help. . As is usually the case, 2021 is starting a bit slow, although there are still some interesting titles to come to test your nerves and reflexes. These include the Xbox Series X console-exclusive horror game Hitman 3 and The Medium. On the independent side, you can expect new ninja game from publisher Shovel Knight Yacht Club Games, Cyber Shadow, the promising hack ‘n’ slash Gods Will Fall, and more.
Note: While I’ve played demos or had early access to some of the games recommended in this article, in most cases I’m just picking games that look promising and can’t guarantee the final product. Wait for reviews before buying!

Headliners
Hitman 3 (PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, PS4, PS5, and Stadia, January 20)
Watch your neck, as Agent 47 is back for yet another round of murder and mayhem. Hitman 3 largely sticks to the plan set by the last two games in the series, offering half a dozen new murder playgrounds, including Dubai, Chongqing, China and Dartmoor, England. The biggest change this time around is in the tone of the series – Hitman 3 cuts down on awkwardness in favor of a more serious story and austere visual style. Stronghold: Warlords (PC, January 26)
The Stronghold franchise has had its ups and downs, but Stronghold: Warlords looks like a solid comeback. The Medium promises to be the most ambitious game to date from Bloober Team’s horror masters (Observer, Layers of Fear), featuring a unique two-world mechanic in which players navigate the ‘real world’ and a realm of dark spirits at the same time. Cyber Shadow (PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch, January 26)
Posted by Shovel-Knight-creators Yacht Club Games, Cyber Shadow is another promising 8-bit flashback. In the case of Cyber Shadow, the inspiration is Ninja Gaiden rather than Mega Man, with the game offering all the jumps and cuts you could hope for. Looking for a new action RPG to play while we all wait to see how Diablo IV will evolve? Well Gods Will Fall might just be the game for you. Inspired by Celtic myth, Gods Will Fall offers players a team of eight random warriors on a quest to take down 10 cruel deities. The game also offers a certain degree of player choice, and as of 2020, roguelike elements. Yes there are a lot of games like this, but I hope Gods Will Fall has hacked a unique niche for himself. Olija (PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch, January 28)
Olija is a new retro platformer with a simple hook… literally.
