NASCAR fans will have more than the Daytona 500 to look forward to for Presidents Day weekend.
Netflix announced on Friday that The crew, a NASCAR sitcom titled by Kevin James, will premiere on Monday, February 15 – a day after the big race.
The 10-episode comedy centers around Kevin, a NASCAR crew chief for the fictional Bobby Spencer Racing team. “When the owner (Rizzoli and islands‘Bruce McGill) resigns and passes the team to his daughter Catherine (The last OG‘s Jillian Mueller), Kevin must protect himself and his crew from his attempts to modernize the team.
Kevin is also concerned that Catherine will replace charismatic pilot Jake Martin (Bridgerton‘s Freddie Stroma) with rising Jessie (Alexa and KatieParis Berelc). “Sponsors love the idea of getting a young woman behind the wheel – and unlike Jake, she knows as much about cars as she does about mechanics,” according to the Official Journal.
Other series regulars include Gary Anthony Williams (The neighborhood) as Chuck, a former crew member with MacGyver level skills; Dan Ahdoot (Cobra Kai) as an Amir, the technologically savvy crew member; and Sarah Stiles (Billion) like Beth, who carries a torch for Kevin.
Sitcom Veterinarian Jeff Lowell (The Ranch, two and a half men) serves as showrunner and executive product alongside James, series director Andy Fickman (Kevin Can Wait, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2), Jeff Sussman (King of queens, Kevin can wait, both Paul Blart movies), Todd Garner (Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2) and Matt Summers and Tim Clark of NASCAR.
