INDIANAPOLIS – Authorities released Monday the video of a man suspected of killing two teenagers from Indiana two years ago and urged the public to examine the film, showing the man walking on an abandoned railway bridge where the girls went on their hike on the day of their murder.
Indiana State Police also released a new sketch of the suspect, according to Superintendent of State Police Doug Carter, produced through "new information," collected during the murder investigation from Liberty German, 14, and old Abigail Williams. At a briefing in the girls hometown, Delphi, he stated that a composite sketch previously published had been issued as a result of eyewitness testimony that thought he saw the man as being secondary to the new sketch.
Investigators believe that the man is between 18 and 40 years old and that he lives or has lived in Delphi, or that he visits or works regularly in the area. He promised that the police would settle the case and, during the briefing, he went directly to the suspect.
"We think you're hiding in plain view – for more than two years you never thought we'd move on to another investigation strategy, but we did it," did he declare.
The video of the suspect and the additional audio that was also released Monday come from the German mobile phone. The authorities hailed her as a heroine for storing potentially crucial evidence prior to her assassination.
Carter invited the public to pay special attention to the mannerisms of the man in the video, which shows him crossing an abandoned railway bridge near Delphi, located about 95 km northwest of the city. Indianapolis.
"Do you recognize the mannerisms as someone you may be familiar with? And remember, he walks on the old railway bridge and, because of the deteriorated state of the bridge , the suspect does not walk naturally, because of the spacing between the sleepers, "he said.
The girls' bodies were found in a wooded and hilly area the day after they hiked on a school day.
A few days after the killings, investigators released two gritty photos of a suspect walking on the bridge and audio recording of a man suspected of being telling him "down the hill ".
The audio clip released on Monday includes the same sound, but it is longer and captures the suspect saying, "Guys, down the hill," said Sgt. Kim Riley with the state police.
Investigators have examined thousands of leads in search of the man, but no arrest warrant has been issued and no arrests have been made.
