In just three minutes and during a total solar eclipse, Pedro Burns descended from the Villarrica volcano at full speed to perform a backflip at the exact moment the sun was covered by the moon.
On December 14, the career of Chilean enduro athlete Pedro Burns took a new step by running against an Eclipse and achieved an incredible backflip at the same time as the skies of southern Chile completely darkened.
The astronomical phenomenon was accompanied by heavy rain which gave an additional challenge to this crazy race against the clock with the three-time Chilean national enduro champion and the top 20 of the last Enduro World Series.
Burns’ challenge was recorded in a 3 minute action clip where you can experience the frantic race along a narrow path on the side of the volcano passing through thick native forest to arrive just at the peak of the climax. from the eclipse to a ramp on which he rolled back.

Besides the weather conditions, Pedro Burns’ helmet was another novelty of this project. As the action would take place in the dark. From the start, I wanted to take a leap, but I never imagined that we would have so many complications. We arrived and it was raining, the ground did not allow us to reach the necessary speed and we thought that we would not make it.
Finally, with the team, we decided to give it a try and we started digging and removing all the first layer of soil and we were successful. It really is something that incredibly ends my year. |
