Video shows American Airlines passenger taped to chair after trying to open the door

An American Airlines passenger had to be enslaved to her seat on a scheduled flight from Dallas-Fort Worth Texas to Charlotte, North Carolina last week. A recent video from Tik-Tok shows the woman tied up with duct tape after trying to open the plane’s door during the flight. The woman reportedly started biting and spitting at an anonymous flight attendant who was trying to help at the time.

American Airlines is issuing a statement regarding the incident.

“During the flight from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Charlotte (CLT) on July 6, the crew aboard American Airlines flight 1774 reported a potential safety issue after a customer attempted to open the door. boarding before and was little physically assaulted and caused injury to a flight attendant, ”said a company spokesperson.

“For the safety and security of other customers and our crew, the individual was held until the flight landed at CLT and could be encountered by law enforcement and emergency personnel,” the statement continued.

After the plane, which had 190 members on board, landed safely at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the woman was transferred to a local hospital for assessment. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were also on hand to escort the woman.

In an additional statement to Charlotte’s ObserverAmerican Airlines said it was “generally physically impossible” to open an aircraft door in mid-flight due to the intense pressure difference inside and outside the aircraft.

A now-deleted video of the woman was also posted by Tik Tok user @ lol.ariee. She spoke about the incident as it unfolded.

“The flight attendants started turning on the lights around 1:30 am and we see all the flight attendants running through the aisles, frantically whispering to each other,” @ lol.ariee said. “The plane crew started locking the bathrooms, grabbing bags from the luggage compartments and not saying what was going on. It was kind of like chaos and no one knows what is going on. happens.”

“Just as the plane was about to land, an air hostess who was sitting next to them explained that a woman with an apparent mental problem had had a fit of anger and wanted to get off the plane. And she was like, “I have to get off this plane,” and she walked to the exits and started knocking on doors, saying, “You have to let me get off this plane,” she continued.

News week contacted the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for further comment, but did not receive a response in time for the post.
