Video shows gigantic gator at Florida Golf Club amid Tropical Storm Eta

Gale force winds were not enough to stop a powerful alligator from hitting the greens of a golf course in Naples, Fla. On Wednesday.

The massive alligator was spotted crawling around the grounds of the Valencia Golf and Country Club and recorded by Tyler Stolting, a golf professional at the club.

Large alligators are far from unusual in the state of Florida – University of Florida fans even applaud the Gators mascot – but this one has drawn attention for its rather prehistoric appearance. He also made his presence known on Wednesday amid Tropical Storm Eta, which brought in high winds and threatening storm surges about 60 miles west-northwest of Tampa.

The storm briefly escalated into a Category 1 hurricane before hitting the state, making it just the sixth November hurricane on record in the Gulf of Mexico.

As rare as a November hurricane may be, the alligator didn’t seem impressed as it made its way through the course.
