Bradley Jackson, will you ever short of surprises?
This week The morning show presents Laura Peterson (played by The good woman‘s Julianna Margulies), the veteran reporter set to interview Bradley and Alex for a UBA special announcing Alex’s return. Former rivals Alex and Laura don’t get along very well, as evidenced by Laura ambushing Alex with an excerpt from Maggie Brenner’s book and asking the question “What was the nature of your relationship with Mitch Kessler?” During their session. (His answer, for the record? An anguished silence, then: “He was my best friend.”)
But when Laura follows Bradley as she works on the presidential campaign, the women develop a friendship. What we know and Bradley doesn’t, at least not at first: Cory asked Laura to “give Bradley a little bit of advice” from a career perspective. So she does it, categorically saying that The morning show isn’t using Bradley in the right way and that Mrs. Jackson is destined for far greater glory than a daytime chatfest. Later, when Bradley’s tusks have clearly fallen, Laura asks him, “Just between us … were you actually selected for this job?” And that’s when Bradley leans in the backseat of the car they’re driving in and kisses Laura on the mouth. Laura kisses him back.
“Laura Peterson is incredibly attractive, she’s so much in her power and in her space, and I think there’s something about Bradley that’s so drawn to that,” series star Reese Witherspoon told TVLine in the video above, in which she and Margulies delves deeper into the surprising smooch: is it a romantic entanglement with endurance?
