Several videos posted to social media on Saturday showed United Airlines Flight 328 hovering in the sky with an engine on fire just before the plane landed safely at a Denver airport.
The plane, a Boeing 777-200, dropped debris in several neighborhoods in Colorado, including a massive room that narrowly missed someone’s house.
None of the 231 passengers and 10 crew on the flight were injured, nor anyone on the ground below, authorities said.
Video showed the engine trembling ominously and engulfed in flames.
Another video from a driver’s dash camera showed the moment the engine exploded in the sky, leaving behind a plume of black smoke.

The plane took off from Denver International Airport in Colorado en route to Honolulu, Hawaii. He returned safely to the airport shortly after takeoff.

The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that the flight suffered a failure of the right engine after takeoff. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
