TORONTO, Aug. 30 – A Vietnamese refugee who has played the same lottery numbers since his relocation to Canada 36 years ago won a $ 60 million Canadian jackpot (Rs. kept secret for 10 months.

Bon Truong, 55, finally won on Wednesday in Edmonton, Alberta.

"I started thinking about what this victory would mean for my family," he said at a press conference. "I realized that this was going to change a lot of things and I wanted to make sure we were all ready and prepared for these changes."

He wrote his name and phone number on the ticket and put it in a safe.

Truong told reporters that he was now considering using his earnings to pay off his mortgage, take a family vacation and continue working as a gardener.

He also joked that he did not intend to reveal his new fortune to his children because he wanted them to always work hard.

"Coming here with nothing, with nothing, after the Vietnam War, he worked," said his niece Mina Truong. "That's all they did: work, save money to buy a house … have a better life for their children, play the lottery and finally, after 30 years, it pays off. You're really happy for them, "
