The Vikings have been haunted by missed goals throughout the team’s existence, but the appeal of a newer broadcaster will live on in infamy.
The Vikings were heartbroken on Sunday after kicker Greg Joseph missed the winning field goal against the Cardinals, but the team broadcaster hilariously thought he pulled it off.
The broadcaster shouted “It’s good!” but didn’t notice that Joseph’s kick went too far to the right and the game was over. The 37-yard field goal would have sealed the victory, but instead the Cardinals came out ahead 34-33 in a wilderness.
“Are you kidding me? He really missed it,” the broadcaster said. “What a punch for a team that play after game towards the end struggled to come back.”
Joseph scored 52 yards earlier in the fourth quarter to make it a 33-31 game, but Cardinals kicker Matt Prater responded with a 27-yard field goal to take the lead and Joseph couldn’t respond. The Vikings lost another heartbreak in Week 1 in an overtime loss to the Bengals and are now starting the season 0-2. But if that can console you, they will always have this masterpiece.
