The Minnesota Vikings have had a string of crucial missed goals at times, including Blair Walsh’s infamous playoff miss in January 2016. Their latest came on the road against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, when Greg Joseph missed 37 yards in the dying seconds with Minnesota 34-33. And the Vikings’ radio call of longtime team Paul Allen and Pete Bercich (in their 20th and 15th seasons respectively) initially had Joseph’s kick just as good (Going through Timothée Burke):

Allen said “Joseph, come on! It’s GOOOODDD! No, he missed it! And Bercich then said “It felt good!” And Allen says, “Are you kidding me? He really missed it.
Compare that to the hard-to-translate exuberance of Gus Johnson on Fox TV:

It’s a big defeat for the Vikings. And it was perhaps particularly difficult for those who listened to the radio who initially thought they had won.
