Village People founder tears up Grammys, rejects Hall of Fame induction

Founder of Village People Victor Willis is playing at the Grammys, saying they don’t respect artists and have such a lame Hall of Fame … the group rejects the recent induction of their biggest hit.

Willis tells TMZ … his legendary disco band told acting Grammy Awards president Harvey mason that he is declining his induction into the 2021 Grammy Hall of Fame because Hall is “missing” and “not taken seriously by the recording academy.”

Willis – the Village People cop – is seriously concerned about the Grammy Hall inductees’ lack of attention, claiming that there is no mention of them at the Grammy Awards … and that there is has no induction ceremony.

For the record, the band’s iconic track “YMCA” was specifically inducted into the Grammys Hall of Fame in December, as it’s only for singles or albums, not for artists – but Victor isn’t even from agreement with them to honor the song.

He calls it all an insult that the villagers don’t want to be a part of until the Grammys “come to an agreement.” He adds that when the band release an album later this year, they probably won’t even submit it to the Grammy Awards.

He goes on to say that the Grammys should “show respect for the classical artists who built the recording industry.”
