Even the closest families have to go through turbulent and dramatic times, and the Fast Family is certainly no exception. Although we foolishly held a brief hope that it was all behind them, the Diesel wine and Dwayne johnson feud continues to escalate as each new movie in the Fast Furious franchise continues to soar to new heights. We respectfully maintain that there is no past or current celebrity clash that could even hope to rival this one.
The quarrel to end all quarrels
The latest public barrage of insults and reprimands comes courtesy of THR as Johnson responded in kind to Diesel’s earlier comments, which suggested his method of “hard love” towards Johnson was in fact a subversively brilliant means of get a better performance from his co-star. There is also the name of an Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini in these quotes, which is right unbelievable.
Apparently, Johnson thought so too, as he takes the time to cover up for himself and Emily bluntthe next disney movie Jungle cruise to, ah, reflect on Diesel’s provocative words and his own future in the main series of Fast and furious movie theater :
“I laughed and I laughed loudly. I think everyone laughed at that. And I will stop there. And that I wished them good luck. I wish them good luck on Fast 9. And I wish them good luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies that they make that will be without me.
Well, that seems pretty final. It would be disappointing if this ego shock meant that it was relegated to just Hobbes & Shaw-as fallout. Or, as it seems to imply here, let the franchise completely wipe its hands.
Starting shots
But for those of us who just can’t get enough of that tiny spat, there’s at least a silver liner that helps make this a little more interesting: Emily Blunt can’t help but give it a go. itself back and forth. Without missing a beat after Johnson’s quote above, Blunt jokes, “Just thank God. [Diesel] was here. Thank God. He got you through this. This is followed by Johnson putting a final button on the conversation with an impassive remark: “Felliniesque”.
We won’t be too upset if Diesel vs. Johnson: Dawn of Justice expands outward to engulf all of Hollywood as a whole, with every big name forced to pick sides and send in choice quotes every now and then. Until then, we’ll be anxious to see if Diesel’s camp retaliates. For better or worse, this feud has no end in sight.
