Left-wing counter-protesters moved on Saturday in a pro-Trump “MAGA Million March” in Washington, leading to scattered clashes and violence as police attempted to keep opposing groups separate.
They opposed pro-Trump groups who rallied to protest the election results, which show a victory for Joe Biden. The president himself even visited the demonstration with his retinue.
Earlier today, the march was largely peaceful. But as the sun set, clips of scenes shared on Twitter showed chaos had taken hold in parts of the nation’s capital.

Anti-Trump protesters allegedly threw eggs at Trump supporters – or stole signs, hats and banners, and lit them. Videos show them yelling at families, beating people on the streets and even harassing an elderly woman wearing a Trump flag.
City police said they made at least 10 arrests – at least three of which involved assaults – but a full tally was not expected until Sunday morning. They have closed the streets and part of downtown Washington, which already has closed stores and offices.

WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE AND VIOLENCE
In some places, police physically stood between groups of Trump supporters and counter-protesters, who are said to be linked to Antifa and Black Lives Matter, to keep them separate. In others, chaos erupted as crowds heckled and in some cases attacked Trump supporters – including some marching with children.

Many videos on Twitter showed shouting matches and violence on the streets and sidewalks.

One showed an escalating altercation with a crowd of so-called “BLM-Antifa thugs” swarming around and punching a man from behind at an intersection. Moments earlier, he attacked someone holding a megaphone. He pushed people away until someone wore a “Trump / Pence Out Now!” sign eventually knocked him out with a punch. When he got up a few moments later, there appeared to be a gash on his face and a lot of blood.
He was reportedly taken to the police after the video ended.
Another showed a group of suspected Antifa members burning a flag near Black Lives Matter Plaza, just north of the White House.

And yet another showed what appeared to be fireworks in the outdoor seating area of a restaurant with a crowd of spectators a few feet away.
Police rushed to intervene outside a Washington hotel after counter-protesters appeared to try to follow a group of Trump supporters home. Video of this incident shows officers forming a line, batons in hand, and ordering the crowd to “back off” from the hotel entrance.
A National Park Service permit for the rally has been issued for up to 10,000 people, the New York Post reported, although several thousand more appeared to show up.
