An unvaccinated Virginia man who thought he was “invincible” to COVID-19 rallies anti-vaccines to get vaccinated from his hospital bed, where he is lying with a severe case of the virus.
Travis Campbell, 43, has been in hospital for more than a week with complications from COVID-19, and his wife and two of their children have also fallen ill, according to NBC News.
Campbell is now hooked up to multiple respirators and is battling his miserable condition to post videos on Facebook urging people to get vaccinated.
“I went through another whole night and am grateful to see the light of day,” Travis said through labored breaths on a Thursday post from his hospital bed.
“Every breath is like swinging an ax,” the patient said in an 11-minute emotional video where he discussed the importance of vaccination amid his uplifting tale.
Kellie Campbell fears her husband will soon be placed on a ventilator as his condition has steadily deteriorated in recent weeks, the network reported.
“We just thought we were invincible and we weren’t going to get it,” Kellie told point of sale. “And we’ve just been so busy, and we just moved, and we extended the vaccination.”
“He started in a regular ward, then he went to a Covid intensive care room, and now he’s in pulmonary intensive care. “
On Tuesday, Travis asked his subscribers if they’d rather get the shot or plan their own funeral.
“I hope before God that all of my friends and family will not say, ‘Someone is giving me a piece of paper and a pen.’ It’s a sobering thought that I made, ”he said.
Kellie told NBC that Travis’s condition is now a daily one and that she doesn’t want anyone else to go through a similar ordeal.
“If you have to take time off from work, if you have to miss something, you have to go get the vaccine because we haven’t, and look where we are now,” she reportedly said. “I mean, this should be your top priority. Especially not just for you, but for your family members.
The comments section of Travis’s emotional messages was inundated with remarks from supporters and strangers who were forced to get vaccinated after witnessing his plight.
“My wife and I went on Monday and got our covid vaccine,” we read
“To have mine and my wife on Friday, I would never have had them before, we knew we had to do it immediately,” another wrote.
“Travis, your campaign is clearly working. Keep it up mate you do a good job as hard as it is I’m sure in your condition. May you get well soon, ”said a third supporter.
