Black leggings are a must in almost any women's closet. They can be worn in a thousand and one manners, day or night, with sneakers or stiletto heels, while matching all styles imaginable – their versatility is flawless.

However, not all black leggings are created equal – it's something that I've learned the hard way. Throughout my stay on this planet, I spent thousands of dollars in my quest to find the perfect couple – sweet as butter but not brittle, fade resistant, designed to keep my muffin top so much fears, and opaque enough to avoid a humiliating wardrobe malfunction.

Although this does not seem to be asking much, it's actually the case. I have about 15 pairs of insulated leggings bought everywhere, from Costco to Barneys New York, stacked in my closet to prove it.

Because Amazon critics rarely miss me, I decided to give a chance to one of their most-rated leggings – the Brushed Buttery Brushed Buttery Leggings from the VIV Collection. With nearly 4,000 reviews, a 4.3 star rating and a $ 13.99 price tag, I did not have much to lose.

Equipment

First, these leggings come in about 50 different colors and patterns and are made from a blend of 92% polyester and 8% spandex. Many critics compare them to LuLaRoe leggings, much appreciated by the second skin, that you may have seen being mowed by one of your friends on Facebook. Since I am more of a black girl, I have not tried any of the other colors and prints, but judging by the reviews, they also seem pretty epic.

I will admit that my expectations were not very big when I opened the package because many leggings have dropped in the past. However, as soon as my fingers swept the fabric, I realized that things might be different this time. These leggings seemed as soft as some of my $ 50 leggings, like Splendid's. They feel seriously like a well hydrated skin.

Dimensioning and adjustment

The VIV leggings are available in two sizes: "One Size", which suits everyone, from size 0, XS to 12 or L, and "Plus" for sizes 14 to 24. I was a little concerned about About the size. How can leggings suit women so radically different in size and shape? It does not make sense.

Despite my initial design concerns, they are perfectly suited – and judging by the testimonials and pictures of other women, of all shapes and sizes – they are really what they are. there is better for their promise of size two. This 8% spandex works its magic.

Once again, these leggings have this second skin that is nice for them. As a result, although they were well adjusted, they did not feel too tight and uncomfortable. The length is also great. Because of my long legs, it can be difficult to find pants long enough to reach my ankles, and they have definitely passed the test.

I'm going to go on a limb and say that there is not a woman on the planet who wants to inadvertently show her body or her underwear when she bends over black leggings. I am excited to announce that VIV leggings are totally opaque. I definitely put them to the test, intentionally in the comfort of my home and doing unintentional errands.

The bottom line

I now own a few pairs of these leggings because I am totally obsessed and still want a clean pair in my closet. I have washed each pair several times in the regular cycle with other dark clothes for over a year and, miraculously, they have very well preserved their color, their shape and their quality. In fact, they may become sweeter with age.

All this was quite surprising to me because, in my experience, black leggings have a very short life span. The threads break down, the colors fade and even the most expensive of the group collapse. If you're looking for the perfect pair of black (or patterned) leggings, think about your search because you do not need to splurge on more expensive styles, even if you have less than $ 15.

Just a warning however – leggings from the VIV collection are kind of addictive, so once you start buying them, you may not be able to stop.
