Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scored his first major homerun on Tuesday, becoming the youngest player in the history of the Toronto Blue Jays to touch them all. It only took two more appearances to go deep.
After playing 14 games without a hit, Guerrero started the first leg of the Blue Jays game against the San Francisco Giants. His drive to the immediate center against Giants striker Nick Vincent was measured at 111.3 mph and traveled about 438 feet.
In the sixth inning, Guerrero again dominated, a three-run pass estimated at 451 feet, this time against right-hander Reyes Moronta.
The star of both sports, Danny Ainge, was the youngest Blue Jay to return home on June 2, 1979, at the age of 20 years and 77 days. Guerrero is younger than 18 days.
The Hall of Famer's son, Vladimir Guerrero, entered the day with a .191 lead with a run-up. The family already had a long history at Oracle Park – former Guerrero won the 2007 Home Run Derby at the waterfront stadium.
