Vladimir Guerrero Jr., widely regarded as one of the best hopes of baseball, will be called by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday and is expected to make his debut in the major league, announced manager Charlie Montoyo.

Guerrero, a 20-year-old third baseman, was number 2 on the ESPN Insider's Top Prospects list, Keith Law, for 2019. The Jays have not yet announced any change in their listing.

Guerrero averaged .381 with 20 homers and 78 RBIs in 95 games, while climbing four levels of minor league bats last season.

There was a chance that he could have done training for the big league of the Blue Jays of spring training, but a tense dive at the start of the spring camp ruined any chance of that.

"It's a great moment for the Toronto Blue Jays," Montoyo said. "I hope that it will become what everyone thinks it will become, and it's going to be good for all of us – for Toronto, the City of Toronto, the Blue Jays, the United States. organization."

Guerrero continued to play this season with the Triple A, Buffalo, averaging .367 with 3 homers and 8 RBIs in 8 games, including a home run in Wednesday's game.

Toronto will host Oakland on Friday for the start of a three-game series, defenseman Mike Fiers to start for the A and Marcus Stroman winning the hill for the Blue Jays.

Guerrero's father, Vladimir, played 16 seasons in major tournaments and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018.
