For pickle lovers, it is a big dill.
Gherkin producer Vlasic is developing chips made entirely of gherkins, confirmed the brand's parent company, Conagra Brands, at a recent event.
"Gherkins are an excellent snack in themselves, essentially without calories or carbohydrates," said Tom McGough, co-director of Conagra's operation, at Investor Day. "But eating pickles in a conventional pot is inconvenient and complicated."
McGough has announced two new gherkin products – Vlasic single serving pickles and also Vlasic vacuum fried pickles – which he said "absolutely fantastic taste".
Vinegar and pickled cucumbers are a $ 1.1 billion category, up 6% from last year, McGough said.

Consumers eager to taste gherkins are not new.
"Pickles have always been a flavor that people love in snacks," McGough said. "Whether in potato chips or even in our sunflower seeds in Bigs Vlasic dill."
But unlike Lay's crisps with pickle sauce that have been reissued this year, these crisps are not potato-based.
A spokesman for Conagra Brands confirmed in the US TODAY on Wednesday that "pickle chips are in our pipeline of innovation, but are still developing." An exit date is not yet known.
