Voters launch anti-Trump election trial in Michigan

President Trump’s legal entanglements over the presidential election are growing with a lawsuit filed by a group of Michigan voters who say his recount battle will rob them of their rights.

Three black residents of Detroit sued Trump and his campaign on Friday in federal court in Washington, DC, alleging that the president’s allegations of electoral fraud in Michigan amounted to voter suppression, Politico reported.

The lawsuit, joined by the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, aims to thwart Trump’s ongoing efforts to reverse his loss in Michigan.

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s lead lawyer in his election challenge, said Thursday the campaign had hundreds of affidavits under oath attesting to cheating polling officers in Detroit.

But Trump’s tactics, according to the voter trial, “repeat the worst abuses in our country’s history, as black Americans were denied a voice in American democracy for most of the Republic’s first two centuries. .

In Arizona, meanwhile, the latest voter lawsuit against the election was dismissed by a Maricopa County judge on Friday.

The case was brought by two local Republicans who said election officials mishandled their ballots, thereby preventing their votes. Judge Margaret Mahoney did not explain the reason for her dismissal.

One of the plaintiffs, Laurie Aguilera, was also involved in the ‘Sharpiegate’ trial – alleging that the markers handed out by polling officers had improperly disqualified ballots – which the Trump campaign filed on November 7 and abandoned within days later.
