Three years after Tesla started making US $ 1,000 reservations for its Model 3, Volkswagen is recording similar orders for its next ID 3 hatchback in Europe.

The company reserves reservations for the first edition of ID 3, ID 3 1ST, comes with a long-range battery of 62 kilowatt-hours, as well as 2,000 kwh of free public charge at Ionity fast charging stations in Europe. .
The 62 kWh battery should give the ID 3 a 260 km range on the particularly generous WLTP European driving cycle. A shorter range, 48 kWh, should deliver more than 200 miles.

VW said that ID 3 would go into production by the end of 2019, about six months later than its initial estimate, and that the first cars would be delivered to Europe in mid-2020.
Volkswagen does not plan to sell ID 3 in the United States, although it plans to import to the United States future electric cars based on the ID 3 platform , starting with the Crozz ID later in 2020.
