While Floridians fix Hurricane Dorian, they stock up on groceries, refuel, install anti-hurricane shutters and make memes.
Dorian, who, according to forecasters, will hit eastern Florida Monday as a Category 4 storm, will make 2019 the fourth consecutive year in which Floridians is hit by a hurricane. There was Michael last year, Irma in 2017 and Matthew in 2016.
At this point, some Floridians seem to be used to hurricanes and are taking steps to lighten their morale while waiting for Dorian to strike.
On the Florida-centric community on Reddit, Floridians joked about an interrupted Labor Day:
Floridians have also published articles on Facebook, inventing senseless events on ways to counter the storm.
"Play D scale Dorian to appease Hurricane Dorian," read on Facebook. Another, "Opening the Durian near Hurricane Dorian," suggested opening the stinging fruit to stop the hurricane.
In some memes, people joked that Floridians were not afraid of hurricanes.
The Publix grocery chain, beloved in Florida, even made hurricane cakes carrying the "Go Away" inscription on the frosting.
A cake even seemed to have an image of Dorian headed to Florida.
As Dorian crawls across the Atlantic and Floridians wait to see where it will go and what will be his strength, memes seem to be a good way to pass the time.
