Waiting for his first success in 2019, Chris Davis is getting close to another embarrassing record of the MLB – CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – The Orioles have a better start than expected by most fans, sitting at 4-3 and winners of their first two rounds. Chris Davis was not as well placed as the first baseman, however, as he made his way back from last year's catastrophic season.

In his first 17 official matches, Davis – who (it must be remembered) signed in January 2016 a contract worth more than $ 161 million (guaranteed) – was wiped out 11 times without succeeding. He recorded four steps, so his current triple slash line is .000 / .190 / .190. When you combine this 0-to-17 sequence with the 0-in-18 race that wrapped up last season, Davis has not been successful since September 14th last season, when it doubled James Shields pitcher of the White Sox.

Just when you thought that Davis's problems could not get worse, it turns out that the slogger thrower on one occasion is only a few games away from the possibility of creating another down of the Major League. His 0-35 streak dating back to last season left him 11 losses, allowing him to reach the worst doldrums in MLB history. Eugenio Velez, a former San Francisco Giants fieldworker, went on the bat four times without success, bringing the 2010 and 2011 seasons closer together.

After being knocked out three times in the team's home opener on Thursday, after an 8-4 loss to the Yankees, fans rushed to Davis among supporters at Camden Yards. The reception of the fans of the house surprised the slugger.

"This is not something I really expected," Davis told reporters after the match. "It was hard. At the same time, I heard that a lot last year and rightly so. I have said it before, I repeat: I understand the frustration. Nobody is more frustrated than me. Especially a day like today, the kind of match we had, really kept them on the heels for the whole game. It was a frustrating game for me personally.

After a season in which he finished with the worst batting average in MLB history for a player eligible for the batting title (.168), Davis entered this year in the hope to change things. The story was not entirely on his side, but the Orioles fans certainly pushed him out of his prolonged slump. Now, they are hoping for a shot before it reaches another infamous mark of the MLB.
