RALEIGH – A new job expansion project brings 275 jobs paying an average salary of $ 142,175 to Wake County. This is the latest in a series of jobs related to the life science industry to come to the Triangle region.

Gilead Sciences, a large biopharmaceutical company with more than $ 20 billion in annual revenues, plans to create an information technology and service center that will include jobs in human resources and cybersecurity in a deal officially announced by the North Carolina Department of Commerce Tuesday morning.

“With today’s announcement, Gilead confirms that North Carolina stands at the crossroads of technological innovation and life sciences and offers the talent, infrastructure and business environment to support their success, ”Governor Roy Cooper said in a statement.

The company will receive some $ 10 million in tax incentives thanks to a job development investment grant. Professional training will also be provided.

“We look forward to introducing Gilead to the local community,” said Andrew Dickinson, Chief Financial Officer of Gilead. “We look forward to welcoming many highly talented and highly skilled individuals who live in the Research Triangle region to work with us as we seek to advance new drugs for people with unmet medical needs.

The company is based in California.

The average salary in Wake County is around $ 63,500.

Gilead will also invest some $ 5 million in the creation of the hub.

Wake County was chosen over Atlanta for the facility, with the company citing the availability, diversity and cost of the talent needed to fill the jobs promised.

The positions will be created by 2023.
