Update (September 12, 12:48 p.m. ET) The live event is now over, here’s a breakdown of what happened during the mini-event
The Golden Cube has now moved to the sandy shores near Believer Beach. Moments after it was installed, the shiny golden cube began to float in the air while emitting energy towards a purple cube right next to it. The golden cube appears to be “activating” the purple cube from now on. Players who are between the emission line of these cubes will lose 10 HP per hit and end up being electrocuted in the lobby.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 recently released and players have seen the cubes return to the island. In addition to the purples, the island now has a giant blue cube and a golden cube. It was recently reported that the Cubes are getting together for a live-in-game mini event.
The news took players by surprise, and they were eager to know the exact times for the event. Each Fortnite event adds a new dimension to the storyline or provides pure entertainment for players.
The live mini-event featuring the Cubes will undoubtedly influence the storyline, and we’ll see how it’s done.

Before Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, reports of Cubes’ arrival took the internet by storm, and everyone was very excited for the same. However, the dawn of Fortnite Season 8 has shown that aside from the usual cubes, the blue and gold variants are new additions to the island.
The Cubes are receiving a mini live event in the game. The live event will begin around 11:00 am ET.
The live mini-event featuring the Cubes has been named Golden Cube Awakening and will take place in three stages. Whatever happens later in the day marks the first step in the whole event.
It has been revealed that all the cubes will come together on October 1. This is slated to be the last leg of the Awakening event, and players can expect specific changes to be rolled out in the game after the final event.
ICYMI: All Cubes will arrive in the center of the map around October 1st!
