Walmart PS5 Restock leaves gamers angry as Sony console sells out during Black Friday sales

The PlayStation 5 sold out at Walmart when the console restocked before Thanksgiving.

Walmart released a limited number of PlayStation 5s the day before Thanksgiving, but, just like on release day, the consoles appeared to sell out immediately.

Walmart said the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles will be available on its website at 9 p.m. ET on November 25. They were only available online and would not be in stores on Thanksgiving Day, when Walmart is closed, or Black Friday.

It was the third chance for gamers to get their hands on the elusive consoles, following pre-orders in September and launch day earlier this month. While some were lucky this time around, others took to social media to express their frustration at missing out once again.

Ben on Twitter joked that he went another way to get a console: “Why [does] everyone keeps saying that Walmart coming out of the PS5s, I have mine in the basket right now ”- with the image of a cart containing a pistol holster, ski mask and sneakers.

Another Twitter user shared the Spider-Man meme “Noooo” in which the hero tries to touch a clone of his girlfriend Mary-Jane as she turns into steam: “Me trying to buy a PS5 at Walmart but was exhausted a second later. .. “

Some have claimed that they were able to add the PS5 to their cart, but found it sold out before they could check out.

The speed at which the consoles have sold at Walmart has led some gamers to speculate that they have been bought by bots mobilized by resellers who will attempt to sell the PS5 at a profit. Others simply point out the extremely high demand and limited stock.

Gamers had a similar experience to GameStop, which made the PS5 bundles costing $ 854.99 available online Tuesday. Some Twitter users who tried to buy from GameStop said the console sold out as soon as it was available, while others were having issues trying to add it to their cart.

However, unlucky players should not give up hope.

On Wednesday PlayStation posted on Twitter, “We want to thank gamers around the world for making the PS5 our biggest console launch ever.

“The demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be arriving at retailers before the end of the year – please stay in touch with your local retailers.”

Newsweek contacted Walmart for comment.
