NEW YORK –

Here are the latest news from Cheddar:

Walmart has unveiled a new "store of the future" which is a testing ground for new technologies, such as cameras and AI-compatible interactive displays. Cameras are used to monitor inventory and replenish items. The Intelligent Retail Lab, located in Long Island, allows Walmart to test new technologies on real customers. The store can be compared to Amazon Go, although the Walmart store is larger and has more than 100 employees. In addition, it still has traditional cash stations.

Amazon uses a system that monitors worker productivity and can automatically trigger them if they do not work well enough. The system is based on a metric called "leave task" which counts the time that an employee spends to be unproductive – this includes the toilet breaks. According to The Verge, Amazon has fired 300 workers using this system in one year in a single installation.

Bruce Springsteen has announced his first new album in five years. The solo album "Western Stars" will be released in June. Springsteen says the music is inspired by the pop of the '60s and' 70s.
