In this artist rendering, Spaceship Earth becomes a beacon of magic in EPCOT at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. As part of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” in honor of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary starting October 1, 2021, Spaceship Earth and other icons from every Walt Disney World theme park will be brought to life on the night with their own EARidescent glow. Thanks to WDWMAGIC and @ danlb_2000 on the WDWMAGIC forums, we have additional details that these permits are carried out by Pro Sound and Video. The permits relate to “the installation of lighting equipment and low voltage terminations”. The audio, video and broadcast integration company is no stranger to the theme parks of Walt Disney World; Their partnership includes work on Pandora – The World of Avatar.

Although the new lighting is being added as part of the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary celebration, this nighttime look will become permanent at EPCOT. The new lighting will continue beyond the “world’s most magical celebration” as a defining feature of the park.
