WandaVision Easter Egg brings back the Marvel group featured in the Incredible Hulk

WandaVision returned this week with his fourth episode on Disney +. As the title suggests, “We Interrupt This Program” breaks with the sitcom fantasy Scarlet Witch and Vision live in (meaning no ads this week) to show what’s going on outside of the Westview community, confirming the involvement of SWORD, Jimmy Woo as the voice on the radio, and Monica Rambeau as an adult. The episode also brings back a Marvel Cinematic Universe organization introduced in the 2008 film. The Incredible Hulk, and this has been featured in Marvel TV shows across all platforms. That organization is WHIH World News, a news network that has covered some of the MCU’s most important battles and events.

During the early days of the MCU Network, a reporter from WHIH coined the phrase “incredible Hulk” while reporting on the conflict between the Hulk and the military at Culver University. WHIH reporter Chess Roberts covered the opening of the Stark Expo in Iron man 2. Marvel Studios has also used WHIH in the marketing of several of its other films, creating social media accounts for WHIH Newsfront. These accounts are no longer active since 2016.

After that, WHIH became one of the few things thought to tie all of Marvel’s plans together, even after a rift began to form between the continuities of film and television. WHIH has appeared in several Agents of SHIELD episodes of the show’s fifth season and appeared in Inhuman‘single season. Netflix shows Daredevil, Jessica jones, Luke Cage, Iron fist, and The punisher also presented WHIH. Finally, the network appeared in the first two seasons of Runaways on Hulu.

In WandaVision, WHIH reappears when Monica Rambeau returns to SWORD headquarters. Televisions at the entrance to the building listen to a WHIH report on people returning from the blip. It looks like WHIH will continue to be part of the glue that binds the Marvel Cinematic Universe together as the Shared Universe continues to expand on Disney +.
