We always have a lot questions about Wanda Maximoff’s true intentions on WandaVision… But Monica Rambeau has become an equally big mystery lately.

Ever since she was cast from The Hex in Episode 3, Teyonah Parris’ agent SWORD has been a total puzzle: her post-Hex x-rays (hex rays?) Have come back blank, her very cells changed as a result of her time in Westview, and she’s chatted with a still-unknown aerospace engineer who could help her return to the Spirit-Controlled City, which Monica seems eager to try.

“In my opinion, she wants to come back [into The Hex] because she realizes that while Wanda sorts through her grief, she is really hold a city hostage, ”Parris tells TVLine with a laugh. “There’s the level of, ‘I understand what you’re trying to handle,’ but also, ‘You are not allowed to do this“. We’ll see Monica sort through the dichotomy of the two. How do you help and know that someone is doing something they shouldn’t be doing while being compassionate with what they are doing?

Ahead of WandaVisionseventh episode of (releasing Friday on Disney +), a lot of our current questions about Monica are topics that Parris can not explicitly tease. She is unable to give any clues as to the identity of Monica’s engineer friend (although fan theories abound), and she wonders if Monica and Jimmy Woo have stayed safe outside The Hex while Wanda l ‘developed in Episode 6. (“My mom asked me the same too,” Parris reveals, when asked if Monica and Jimmy got away quickly enough in a SWORD vehicle. “I’ll say that I should do not say.”)

But Parris can explain why Monica has stood up for Wanda so ardently in the last few episodes, despite the pain Wanda caused her in Westview: The two women are tied in loss, she says.

“Not only [Monica’s mother] pass, but Monica wasn’t there to help her mom make the transition. And it’s a very difficult pill to swallow, ”shares the actress. “The guilt and shame and whatever other heartache she might try to resolve, all the while going back to work on a project that she usually doesn’t even do – there.” are parallels between Monica’s grief, trauma and tragedy, as well as what Wanda is going through. Monica connects to Wanda at this level. “

Meanwhile, Monica’s bond with Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel – formed when Monica was a child – seems to have waned in one way or another, given Monica’s recent cold reaction to Captain Marvel’s name. With Parris confirmed to appear in the MCUs Captain Marvel 2 movie, she hints that “we have a lot of real estate and time to play with Carol and Monica’s relationship.”

As to whether WandaVision will offer all Further explanation for Monica and Carol’s apparent breakup before the series ends, Parris will only tease, “There’s still a lot more story to tell” in the series’ three remaining episodes.
