Wanted: Dead was unveiled during this year’s Tokyo Game Show via a one-minute trailer. By touting the talents that worked on the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series, it turned heads. The trailer features an eclectic mix of flashy and brutal melee combat with over-the-shoulder shooter. Combat seems to incorporate its gameplay pillars in a different way than other character action games with guns woven into multiple grappling moves.
After the trailer, we learned a bit more about the project from reports from IGN. Developer Soleil has noted Devil May Cry and Bayonetta as inspirations, although that inspiration is mixed with his own ideas. According to the developers, Wanted: Dead will feature investigative sections in which players will have to “immerse themselves in real police work”. The game is set in a sci-fi version of Hong Kong.
