Top mainstream media ‘fact-checkers’ have remained silent on Vice President Kamala Harris’ debunked claim that the Biden administration did not inherit a plan to roll out the coronavirus vaccine .
In an interview with Axios co-founder Mike Allen, broadcast on HBO on Sunday, Harris was asked about the difficulties of the administration’s response to the pandemic after nearly a month in office.
“There was no stock … of vaccines,” Harris replied. “There was no national strategy or plan for vaccinations. We left it up to states and local leaders to try to figure it out. And in many ways, we are starting from scratch on something that is raging. for almost a year.! “
Harris directly contradicted the remarks of White House adviser Dr Anthony Fauci last month in response to CNN reports that made a similar claim.

Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post fact-checker who kept tabs on the lies spoken during the Trump presidency, has yet to weigh in on Harris’ statement.

Over the weekend, Kessler spent much of his time checking the facts of former President Trump’s legal team during the Senate impeachment trial. One of the claims he tried to verify was the defense of Harris, whom the Trump team criticized for promoting the Minessota Freedom Fund last year. The fact-checker insisted on the claim by Trump’s lawyers that the money raised by the fund helped bail out rioters, including repeat offenders, is “more complicated” than they suggest.
CNN star fact-checker Daniel Dale also spent the weekend focusing on Trump’s defense team. Neither he nor the rest of CNN’s fact-checking team responded to Harris’s debunked claim.
Perhaps for Dale and CNN, however, such a fact-checking would be uncomfortable for them to report.

CNN’s report that Fauci was shot dead from the White House newsroom last month cited unnamed Biden officials and the anti-Trump network heavily promoted his now-debunked “scoop” on the air.
Neither CNN nor the Washington Post’s Kessler immediately responded to Fox News’ requests for comment.
While PolitiFact was the only leading fact-checker to dispute Harris’s claim to be “wrong,” Axios, the news outlet to which the Vice President made her statement, strangely verified it by removing a tweet referring to Fauci’s past remarks. while sharing the clip on Twitter.
Axios also did not respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
