Marvel’s Avengers reveals Black Panther: War for Wakanda release date

Almost a year after its launch, Marvel Avengers finally adds King T’Challa to its ranks. Square Enix has announced when players will be able to get their hands on the game’s highly anticipated story expansion, Black Panther: War for Wakanda. The new adventure will be available for download from August 17th.

As with the previous extensions, War for Wakanda will be released at no additional cost to players. The expansion features Black Panther as Avengerslast playable hero. But more importantly, it gives players the chance to explore T’Challa’s Realm and visit Birnin Zana’s new outpost overlooking the capital of Wakanda, also known as the Golden City. There they can find Shuri’s Lab, Zawavari’s Chambers, and the Wakandan War Room. Players can also participate in additional single player or multiplayer Drop Zone and Threat Sector missions.

War for Wakanda finds T’Challa in the face of sudden betrayal, which shakes his trust in everyone around him, including his family. But when Klaw shows up and threatens the safety of his people, the nation’s protector has no choice but to rise to the occasion. Christopher Judge, who previously played the role of Kratos in God of the war, provides T’Challa’s voice. The expansion will also add a second villain to the mix, but his identity has yet to be announced.

Additionally, the day before the expansion goes live, Crystal Dynamics will share more information on what players can expect in a new War Table presentation. The event kicks off Monday, August 16 at 10 a.m. PT.
