Today, Digital Extremes announced during TennoCon 2021 as its popular online shooting game Warframe will get full cross-play and cross-save support later this year, allowing space ninjas to take their characters to PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One transparently.
The big news, revealed at the top of the live stream, was that Warframe will finally get true, cross and cross support, which fans have been asking for for years. In a press release, Digital Extremes explained the decision to add these features to the eight-year-old shooter.
“The community is extremely important to us,” said Sheldon Carter, COO of Digital Extremes. “Opening up cross-play and cross-save is just one of many other efforts we’ll be making to bring more players together, including expanding Warframe fast, smooth and action-packed combat experience at other global gaming platforms.

During the TennoLive video stream, Digital Extremes also announced that a version of Warframe is also under development for mobile devices. No other details about this port were shared during the event.

The developers presented a little bit of gameplay live on the stream showing how people on Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, PC and mobile will be able to easily band together and play together in all of the previous ones Warframe content.
Digital Extremes explained that this is by far the most requested feature by the community and the team are excited to finally show it.

No specific date has been given for the release of this next update, pitting players against a big, evil foe known as the Sentients. The current release window is later this year.
