2019 Honda Passport Review

Honda will be the first company to offer a customer car with Level 3 autonomous driving capability, the company said this week.
The automaker has received government permission to offer its Traffic Jam Pilot feature in Japan and plans to introduce it in a production car by March of next year.
The system allows the driver to lift both hands off the wheel and look up to the road to read or do something else on the freeway under certain conditions, but is supposed to stay ready to regain control if necessary.
The car should also display an Automated Drive sticker to warn other vehicles.
Similar systems currently available in the United States, such as Cadillac’s Super Cruise and Tesla’s Full Self-Driving, require full attention at all times, either with facial recognition technology ensuring the driver is looking straight ahead. ‘before, or to a sensor in the steering wheel confirming that they are touching.

Honda will launch this feature in its Legend sedan, which was previously sold in the United States as the Acura RLX.

Along with its internal efforts, Honda has also invested in GM’s Cruises division, which develops fully autonomous Level 5 vehicles for transportation and delivery services.
