CRÊME PHILADELPHIA – Protesters interrupted a panel featuring Elizabeth Warren, hope for 2020, asking if she would legalize millions of undocumented immigrants to the United States if she were elected president.
Warren was on stage at the Netroots nation when an activist sat in a chair and started screaming about immigration policies. Other activists held a placard on which was written: "Legalize 11 million, reunite all families".
"Let's talk about immigration," said Warren as protesters continued shouting Saturday afternoon.
The moderators tried to calm the protesters by asking them to let Warren answer their question. "She can not speak if you keep shouting," said a moderator.
"Then, I would like to talk about undocumented immigrants," Warren said. "I would have liked to talk about mixed-status families. I would like to talk about a redesign of our immigration system because that is what we need. And this is based on the premise that immigration is good for our country. It makes us stronger. "
The protester on the chair was removed by security.
Warren also received a warm welcome at the annual event of Liberal activists. Participants chanted "Warren! Warren! Warren! And gave him a standing ovation as she went up on stage.
