Klay Thompson wants to stay with the Golden State Warriors, but he does not seem inclined to give them a discount.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, Thompson will be tempted to test free agent status if the Warriors are proposing a contract of less than five years worth up to $ 189.7 million.

There have been many rumors that the Warriors would lose at least one key player in their lineup this summer, although the consensus is that Kevin Durant will probably leave if he gives up his contract.

Ric Bucher from B / R said last month on The flock with Colin Cowherd (h / t Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Bay Area) that ""It's done" and Durant went on, with New York Knicks mentioned as being the most likely destination for the NBA Finals' most valuable double player.

There has not been much talk about Thompson, as it is assumed that Golden State will give him what he wants.

Ethan Strauss of Athletic reported in January that there was "an expectation inside and outside" of the Warriors' organization that Thompson remains with the franchise .

Golden State will probably be forced to make big decisions this summer to avoid the ramifications of the salary cap. According to Yossi Gozlan of Warriors Wire, the double NBA champion would pay $ 276.3 million next season between player salaries and luxury tax penalties if Durant and Thompson sign again and the rest of the training returns intact.

Thompson has been a vital part of the Warriors' current success. The 29-year-old athlete averaged 19.5 points per game and shot 41.9% of his three points in eight seasons of the NBA.
