the warriors star players push management to acquire top talent in pursuit of another championship with Bradley Beal as the primary target, reports Marcus Thompson of The Athletic.
The Warriors have the No.7 and 14 picks in next week’s draft and should likely add more picks with Andrew Wiggins‘salary to match salaries. Golden State would rather keep last year’s No. 2 overall pick, James wiseman, but it’s speculated Washington would want the young center to be part of any package as well.
Of course, Beal never indicated that he wanted to be traded and the Wizards have said repeatedly that they are not interested in dealing with their high scoring All-Star. In fact, Washington is hoping to sign Beal for another extension. His current one will start next season – a two-year contract worth $ 71.8 million with a second-year player option.
Beal and the Wizards would need to change their minds quickly with the draft just a week ago.
The Golden State Trio Stephen curry, Klay thompson and Draymond Green have made it clear to the team’s front office that he wants a player who can help the franchise have another serious title race.
Beal, who was picked for the United States squad but did not travel to Tokyo after entering health and safety protocols, is considered the ideal player for Golden State’s offense due to his ability to score and play. That would lighten the load on Curry, who has edged Beal for the league scoring title this season.
Damien lillard could also fit this mold, but multiple sources told Thompson that the Trail Blazers’ perennial All-Star would like to join the Warriors. Beal is preferred to Raptors star forward Pascal Siakam, another player would be a potential commercial target for the Warriors.
