Warriors work on top prospects in 2021 NBA Draft Thursday in Chase

The Warriors are sparing no effort ahead of the 2021 NBA Draft.

Golden State will host a plethora of top draft prospects on Thursday, subjecting them to training at the Chase Center. The group includes guards Davion Mitchell and Moses Moody, striker Jalen Johnson and big man Kai Jones. All four are seen as possibilities for the Warriors with their two lottery picks at # 7 and # 14.

Mitchell and Moody have both been heavily linked with the Warriors before the draft. They are seen as prospects that could have an immediate impact on Golden State.

Mitchell spent three seasons in college – one at Auburn and two at Baylor – and won a national championship this season. He’s a tenacious defender who could lead the second unit from day one. Moody is a better offensive threat as a hoop slasher and a threat from the depths.

Jones spent two seasons in Texas, is a tall athletic man at 6-foot-11, and shot 38.2 percent from depths in sophomore. He’s full of potential, but Johnson might be the more intriguing prospect.

The 6-foot-9 forward came to Duke as one of the best rookies in the country. But he and coach Mike Krzyzewski didn’t always agree, and Johnson left Duke in February to focus on the draft. In 13 games (eight starts), Johnson averaged 11.2 points and 6.1 assists per game, and had 44.4% of his 3-point attempts.

Johnson can do a bit of anything and already has an NBA body. There is a real chance that it will be available at # 14 and could turn into a flight if it slips.

On Wednesday, the Warriors hosted a group of draft prospects including Cameron Thomas, Tre Mann and Isaiah Todd.
