Warzone players baffled by Season 4’s bizarre weapon nerfs

The Warzone Season 4 Reloaded update brought the greatest weapon balance the game has ever seen, but players are not happy with some of the changes.

Warzone’s reloaded Season 4 massive update is finally live, bringing plenty of new and exciting content for fans to eat. While the OTs 9 SMG and Mauer Der Toten Zombie card headlines the update, Raven Software has also tweaked almost every weapon in the game.

It’s still early days, and the meta will likely change as players delve into the latest buffs and nerfs. Many Warzone weapon changes have been adjusted in hopes of increasing the average TTK across multiple weapon categories. This means that even the most dominant weapons will feel a little different this season.

Despite the positive reaction surrounding the weapon meta, many players are baffled by Raven’s decision to nerf some of the weaker weapons in the game.

The SCAR received a major nerf in Season 4.

“Why did they just nerf the SCAR, the MW AK47, the Oden and the FAL?” These guns are already some of the worst in the game and have one of the lowest pick rates of any gun, ”says TastyWhaleMeat.

To suggest that these four weapons have been popular in the current weapon meta would be a huge understatement. In fact, only Modern Warfare’s AK-47 barely made it into the top 30.

Not only do these weapons provide disappointing damage compared to their meta counterparts, but they also come with some of the highest recoil skill caps in the game. There’s a clear reason the majority of the player base gravitates towards to the FARA 83 and XM4.

“Really bizarre changes that seem to make Warzone’s worst weapons worse for no apparent reason,” says TastyWhaleMeat. “I liked the steering balance updates, but it makes me wonder how these decisions are made.”

Well, according to Raven Software, both balance changes were made to help increase the average kill time in Warzone. “When evaluating an individual change, some may seem quite drastic, but they were done holistically and in a way that allowed for a gradual increase in the average TTK in several weapon categories,” explains the developers.

“Torso multipliers were central to these changes with how often they would act as fixed damage increases given the regularity with which this location could be hit. With reductions in those multipliers, we’re putting more emphasis on precision – a move that we believe is ultimately healthy for the game. ”

Although Raven has stated that they will “be watching weapon performance closely,” the Warzone community still doesn’t understand why some of the lower performing weapons in the game have been hit so hard.

It remains to be seen whether the devs will get back on those nerves, but for now, it’s best to stay away from non-meta choices.
